Word from the Founder
Restoring The Lost Smile Rescue Centre is a story of hope, compassion, and an unshakable belief that every child deserves a chance to dream, learn, and succeed. Our journey began when our founder, Joseph K. Muchai, was deeply moved by the struggles of children across Nairobi’s informal settlements bright, eager, determined children who longed to stay in school but were being pushed out by poverty. Their dreams were collapsing not because they lacked ability, but because they lacked opportunity. School fees, uniforms, learning materials, food, and basic needs became barriers too heavy for their families to carry. Their smiles faded. Their confidence weakened. Their future seemed lost. From this reality, Restoring The Lost Smile Rescue Centre was born a mission to restore hope where it was stolen, and to rebuild dreams where they were broken. What started as a small act of kindness quickly attracted compassionate sponsors who believed in the vision. Little by little, more hearts joined the mission. More hands lifted the burden. More children found their way back to school. Today, we are humbled to be supporting 103 vulnerable children each with a unique story, a renewed smile, and a revived dream. And this number continues to grow, because the need is great and many more children are waiting for help, waiting for a chance, waiting for someone to believe in them. At Restoring The Lost Smile Rescue Centre, we provide more than school fees. We create a circle of care around every child's emotional support, mentorship, basic needs, follow-ups, and a safe environment where they can learn, grow, and thrive. We work closely with families, schools, community leaders, and partners to ensure every child’s progress is protected and celebrated.
